If you’re craving a sushi spot that hits every note from crispy to umami, Mad Tuna is that hidden gem you’ll want to gatekeep. I came here on a whim and left obsessed—mainly because their menu reads like a love letter to Japanese fusion.
I started light with appetizers: the Soft Shell Crab was golden and delicate, and the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice? Absolute perfection—crispy on the outside, silky tuna on top, with just enough heat. The Heart Attack name is bold, but so is the flavor, packing creamy, spicy goodness into every bite.
Next came the salads, which aren’t just fillers here. The Spicy Tuna Salad came with fresh greens and seared tuna that practically melted, while the Hawaiian Salad offered a tropical zing I didn’t expect but absolutely welcomed.
Now, let’s talk sashimi and sushi. Their Blue Fin Toro Sashimi is luxurious—if you’re going to treat yourself, start there. I also loved the buttery Sea Scallop Sushi and briny pop of Salmon Roe Sushi. Their Mad Tuna Special series is perfect for indecisive eaters—it’s like a mini tour of their greatest hits.
If you're into something warm and hearty, their Bulgogi and Salmon Teriyaki entrées are rich, satisfying, and well-portioned. But the stars of the show are the Specialty Rolls. The Itz Bomb (deep-fried roll) and Sex in the Mouth (yes, that’s the name) deliver drama and flavor in equal measure.
Even their fried rice feels elevated—don’t miss the Unagi Fried Rice. I ended with mochi and a glass of chilled Kikusui Nigori, and it was the perfect sweet, cloudy finish.
Mad Tuna isn’t just sushi—it’s a full sensory experience on a plate.
